Liming: red stone mountains between Dali and Lijiang

Lijiang Liming overview

Liming is a beautiful, mountainous area between Dali and Lijiang. It’s a colourful combination of red stone and green, lush evergreens high above the clouds. Liming makes a great daytrip out of busy Lijiang town. If you start early you’ll have the place almost to yourselves. Get above the clouds in the astonishingly steep cable car and walk down the wooden steps through the forest. Take your time to take in the magnificent view and enjoy the silence around you. Down under you can have a local lunch, prepared by Lisu people.

From Lijiang it’s about 3,5 hours driving to Liming. From Dali is about 4,5 hours. You can also do the trip in 2 days, staying overnight in Liming or in Shigu, a small town in the bend of the Yangste river.
